In the midst of metamorphic times, there was an initiative to create sounds in more conceptual and detailed forms than the usual approaches to the dance floor, giving birth to the first sketches and ideas that counter the voids and comfort zones of the pandemic, also initiating a new story.
This is how Earthlink emerges, a collaborative work between sound producer VON Krup, and visual artist Eph3mme. In their Otono/Ekō debut, the duo has elaborated a concept that merges musical synthesis —from digital programming processes with code to organic sounds, through sound design—, on par with syncopated rhythms and meticulous bass lines. The result heads to five tracks that deepen in a textured exploration of post-ambient/IDM styles, dissolving conventional production backgrounds.
Narrative-wise and as its story develops, the EP travels to another time era in which mankind has to leave the planet to search for the consciousness of a new home and a future civilization, and in order to generate a new tune signal and restoration program for Earth. This gives place to a futuristic panorama that recreates the “dystopian present” through utopian colors; where music is traced as a plot of transformation, like a small hologram of technological research, atemporal ideals and a luminous portal in the end.
Alluding to both experimental and club genres, this EP is accompanied by multiple remixes that follow up on the search of intelligent dance music and it’s union with the avant-garde, seeking interesting common points with both advanced and dance floor realms, along with an eclectic cast of guests from Latin America and abroad.
Those reworks come with the final edition of Earthlink.
