After staying for half a year in Mexico City, far away from his native homeland, OTONO invited icelandic musician Indriði Ingólfsson to record freely and play a concert before leaving back home. These approaches lent the atmosphere for some very intimate sessions that resulted in a hybrid of electronic and guitar explorations, recorded in a lo-fi, limited edition cassette tape. From this brief encounter, he recalls:
“We brought all the gear out into the roof, set up the microphones and then started recording. It was a dramatic session with heavy vibes, but also had in it some silliness and fun. Nice and professional setup but also sloppy aesthetics. The experience of playing Old Songs from The Future was a good reminder of taking what you do seriously but at the same time not letting that get in the way of what really matters. This album is a manifestation of my first experience of going into the unknown and re-experiencing myself in circumstances that had never affected me before.”
